Plastic Ono Day
In July of 1987 I got heavily into "Sgt Pepper's" on it's 20th
anniversary of release. I already had plans to do my next album as a "late 60s" type of
thing called "The Colour of Your Dreams" but in the summer of '87 it started to take
on a life of it's own. One long, trippy Saturday I started the day seeing a multi-colored
hot air balloon rising out of the park out side my window. I went all over the East End of
the city that day...well into Sunday morning. As I neared home; the same multi-colored
balloon I saw the day before seemed to be following me back to my digs near the park.
Both days were gorgeous with fantastic blue skies & high white clouds...like the cover
of "Live Peace in Toronto" by the Plastic Ono Band. In the early Fall of that year, I was in "Strawberry Fields" Central Park accross from The Dakota on an identicle type of day. Late October/early November of '87 in NYC was magic...it was very easy to be
swept away on the tide...
