My good friend here "grew up" to be a Flight Attendant for United Airlines.
For about 18 months he worked Flight #93 (D.C. to San Fransico) until he
was "moved" from the route by an Attendant with more seniority effective
September 1, 2001. My friend really loved the Washington to S.F. run, but
these things happen in a Union Shop, the seniorty system is a good thing.
I'm sure he was disappointed to have to leave his favorite Flight Route but...
On the morning of Septembr 11th he was working a route out of O'Hare in Chicago in stead of Flight #93.
One of his best friends in the business had been working as an Attendant
on United's Flight #175 as she had been for months. She was working the
morning on 9/11. He told me she was one of the sweetest people he ever met.
He also told me his Union Sister who "bumped" him off of Flight #93 was
a really good person and an excellant Flight Attendant. She was working
on the morning of September 11th too.
We all know what happened to United Flights #93 & #175 that day as well
as; American's Flight #11, TWA's Flight #9 , The World Trade Tower's, and
The Pentgon. And we will never forget!!! Woe be to any who try it again!!!
Woe be to any who try to use this tragedy to their advantage.
My friend still works for United Airlines. May God bless him and everyone
involved in keeping the Airline Industry FLYING FREE!!!
